Many Hands…Light Work

Aperature : Various

“Many Hands” tells the story of the most used part of our bodies, that part which we take for granted, our hands. Shot on location at the Contemporary Middle Eastern restaurant, Morah, located on the 72nd floor of the prestigious JW Marriott Marquis Hotel. I spent roughly around 5 hours shooting various aspects of the kitchen, specifically the chefs working in their natural environment, however, when it came time to edit, it was the many shots of these chefs working with their hands which really spoke to me. So i figured it best to do a mosaic layout to better tell that story to my viewers.

Enjoy.

This was yet another shot from my recently concluded Budoir shoot over the weekend. I used only natural light with a bit of fill flash to fill in the shadows in the face. The sharpness of the eyes help to capture the viewers’ attention despite the composition being quite simple. Having said that, simple can sometimes be quite striking.

First of all, I must apologise for not having posted in a while, I’ve had a busy couple of weeks working on some of my personal goals. However, I’m back and it sure felt good to be behind the camera again.

This was taken on the birthday of my fiancée, as we were spending the weekend on a mini staycation. As it’s summer now in the Gulf, it was way too hot outside, so we decided to take a few shots indoors. We got in around 200 plus shots, primarily using window light, all of which revolved around a boudoir-like theme. Post production was done in Lightroom and finished up in Photoshop.

A Curve & A Light

I had a bit of free time on my hands as I was on break for a few hours from work. I therefore used this time to get in a few shots at the Canal as I have been wanting to return for some time now. I set up shop with my D7000, nifty 50mm, tripod and polarising filter and took more or less around 120 shots. What a great evening it was.

Through the passage of time

What a cheap way to travel, using the Abra to get from one part of the Creek to another. One trip cost approximately $0.30 USD, can you believe it? 15 years ago this was one of the main means of transport within Dubai for many people heading to and from work. However with the advent of the metro and a highly improved transportion system it isn’t used as much now, nonetheless, it is a must see whilst in Dubai as it’s still one of the best ways to reach the Old Souq.

Sin City

After weeks of making plans of a trip to the Palm Jumeirah, I was finally able to make the time and get to shooting. I arrived around 20:00hrs to a relatively empty boardwalk then set my gear up to shoot. I travelled quite light; Nikon d7000, 50mm 1.8, Sigma 105mm 2.8 and my tripod. In total I spent around 2 hours firing away, switching between lens and using various compositions and in the end I managed to capture this image, one which I am quite happy and contented with.
